Subscription Fees for Middle Tier Category AMO

After consultation with stakeholders and Registered Interest Groups (RIGs) that were interested in the idea of a middle tier, the Associate Member Organization, the roles and responsibilities have been proposed in the updated draft constitution. Another consideration, should this be moved forward, is the development of a fee structure for this middle tier. What are some thoughts on what the subscription fee should be set at? It must be remembered that the intent of this middle group is that it is for countries that are currently RIGs that are intent on moving up to the Member Organization and typically require a lot of resources and assistance from IFOMPT in order to get their respective programs to this level. What do you think this fee should be set at?

Thank you Paolo for posting this submission to the Forum. There are currently 22 RIGs, does the EC have any idea how many plan or aspire to transition to MO status? Transition can be costly and timely, has the RIG development task force developed a framework for the development and completion of the transition?

The taskforce on RIG Development continues to monitor and work closely with many RIGs that are interested in moving towards the MO category. There are many challenges in developing the curriculum and having all things in place for some of the countries but the motivation is high in many of the current RIGs. There are also other considerations for some of the countries and the middle category has been proposed for those moving towards the MO category or for countries that would like to move up to that tier. Some RIGs, however, are only interested in the association with IFOMPT as an international organization and may not have the abilities to move beyond this category so this allows that inclusive opportunity for all. The challenge is in determining what fee is appropriate for this middle category and input is welcomed? Also, balancing the high standards that are currently in place and the monitoring component must also be considered with this dialogue.

Re: Subscription Fees for Middle Tier Category AMO
Hi Paolo, Thanks for moderating this forum. It's a tough call as what to set the fee at. The obvious choice would be to set the fee in the middle between the MO and RIG fee. Having said that, it may present as a further barrier to move from RIG to MO status. It would be nice to know which RIGs would sincerely like to move towards MO status and perhaps they can actually have a discounted fee for a transitional period until they reach MO status from the current RIG fee which may further incentives them to move along to MO. For those countries that simply want to leverage IFOMPT and remain at the AMO status, I believe they should have a set fee that is somewhere in the middle. Kind Regards. Michael Boni.
