Executive Committee Member and Treasurer Dr Pierre Röscher

Dr Pierre Röscher is a physiotherapy academic, researcher, clinician, and professional leader based at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), Australia. He serves as an Executive Committee Member and Treasurer of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT), having served on the IFOMPT Executive Committee since 2020.

Pierre qualified as a physiotherapist in 2008 and has maintained a strong professional focus on musculoskeletal physiotherapy throughout his career. He completed a community-based Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) program in South Africa in 2011 and subsequently became extensively involved in teaching and supervising within the program. These experiences established a longstanding commitment to advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice, clinical reasoning, and the development of the next generation of musculoskeletal physiotherapists.

His academic career has continued this focus on excellence in musculoskeletal physiotherapy education and practice. Pierre has taught musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy across undergraduate and postgraduate settings, with particular interests in clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, pain, rehabilitation, and the translation of advanced musculoskeletal practice into physiotherapy education.

Pierre holds a PhD in Clinical Medicine and is actively involved in research and higher degree research supervision. Alongside his musculoskeletal background, he has developed expertise in pelvic health physiotherapy, with research interests including male pelvic health, pelvic pain, prostate cancer survivorship, sexual dysfunction, and the intersection between musculoskeletal and pelvic health conditions. His work reflects a broader interest in complex clinical presentations and the integration of musculoskeletal assessment and management within multidisciplinary models of care.

Pierre is currently an academic at UniSC, where he contributes to physiotherapy education, research, curriculum development, and student supervision. Prior to joining UniSC, he held academic positions at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia and the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
Within IFOMPT, Pierre contributes to the strategic and financial governance of the organisation and to its broader mission of advancing excellence and international standards in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. He is committed to strengthening the global musculoskeletal physiotherapy community through high-quality education, evidence-informed practice, professional collaboration, and the continued development of advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice worldwide.
