It is recommended that you contact your country’s member of IFOMPT to volunteer to become involved in their structures in the first instance, and that could evolve in becoming involved with IFOMPT structures and events in future.

IFOMPT does not have individual members. To remain informed on IFOMPT activities, follow IFOMPT on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and also by signing up for The IFOMPT Network.

The only way to be a member of IFOMPT is through your countries’ IFOMPT MO, AMO or RIG. The first and recommended step would be to become a member of the IFOMPT accredited group. If that is not an option for whatever reason, a way for you to remain in touch is by following IFOMPT on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and also by signing up for The IFOMPT Network.

You can speak to your national World Physiotherapy accredited PT body to determine if they do have an IFOMPT subgroup, and if not and there is a demand, the country should consider creating an OMPT group and registering with IFOMPT as a Registered Interest Group.

Your membership of the IFOMPT Member Organisation automatically gives you the IFOMPT credential if you have completed an IFOMPT accredited training course. If you have completed your postgraduate training at any of the IFOMPT accredited training institutions and are a member of the Member Organisation, you are a part of IFOMPT. If you are unsure, contact the Member Organisation in your country for clarification.

Reciprocal recognition is when OMPT organisations of two countries agree that a member of one Member Organisation is able to become a member of another Member Organisation without added requirements such as further examination, portfolio review, or additional education. Reciprocal recognition is linked to allowing the OMPT trained physical therapist to have the same rights and privileges within the Member Organisation as others within the organisation who have successfully completed an IFOMPT approved OMPT educational programme. Note that reciprocal recognition is not linked to registration or licensure to practice in a Member Organisation country. The physiotherapist must still meet the country’s registration or licensure requirements to work and practice physiotherapy.

It is recommended that you send your complaint to the Executive Committee via the IFOMPT Office – admin@ifompt.org. The Executive Committee will consider your complaint based on their policies and procedures and be in touch.
